Nutrition

I think it would be a good time to share some ideas for healthy foods that don't taste too bad. Or even something great that you can put up with. I am not a nutritionist, not certified in anyway to prescribe diets or food plans. But I think we can share ideas on here and I'll post recipes from time to time that have been presented as a health dish from magazines, books, or other readers on here.

Where shall we start?

As I mentioned in a previous blog I have found sweet potatoes to be less disgusting than I had originally thought. I think the brown sugar and whipped cream toppings people put on them really turned me off. I have found cutting them into thick slices, spraying olive oil on them with a dash of salt or seasoning and cooking them for 15 mins at 375 proves to be much more tasty. I baked one and tried it that way but it didn't suit my tastes. I will next try them in slices in a stir fry type dish. I'll let you know how that goes.

What are your ideas?

  1. Since I started my Goat effort I have evolved into having a breakfast dish each morning that I like a lot. I have some granola that I add some slivers of almonds to and I put 1/2 cup of this into my bowl with a non fat flavored yogurt. I stir it all up and then dig in. This sets me up so I can then have a piece of fruit about 9 am.

  2. Friend that wrote nutrition plan for me based my diet around the following link. It was developed for Swiss Olympians.

We started with Insanity diet plan as springboard, which she said was actually pretty good. Just changed it to emphasize less protein and focus more on carbs from fruits & veggies.
